High Definition Raised Ink Printing is a environmentally friendly process. It produces no harmful waste products, does not require any metal plates and uses small amounts of power in production.
The main difference is that traditional embossing creates the lift from Metal die which pushes the image
from the reverse of the card leaving an impression on the reverse. Raised ink however does not leave any impression on the reverse thereby enabling double sided printing.
Traditional embossing has a matt finish whereas HD raised ink printing applies a shiny lacquer onto the raised ink surface.
The difference between HD raised ink printing and UV Spot Varnish
UV varnish gives a shiny flat result whereas HD raised ink gives a 3d effect which is pinpoint accurate. UV spot varnish has a margin of error (about 1mm movement) which means that it cannot be used for intricate designs.
Finally unlike UV, HD raised ink is an environmentally friendly print process. It produces no harmful waste products and uses small amounts of power in production.
As well as HD raised ink printing, we can also offer non coloured raised ink using thermography.
The main disadvantage of thermography is that the process takes longer, cannot be applied to full colour and artwork which has very fine detail. The main advantage is that thermography can be applied on a range of non coated papers.
